Preparing for your next anxiety attack can help. This is not to say that you should obsess about having an attack because this will only trigger one on. Preparing simply means having a calming phrase ready to repeat to yourself and knowing other calming techniques that you will use if an attack does strike.

If you do have an attack, you can minimize its effects by taking deep, slow breaths, counting, concentrating on a certain object to get your mind off of the attack, picking up the phone and calling someone or walking around your home until it subsides. Start any of these techniques at the first sign that you are starting an attack. If you wait too long, your attack will get worse.
